Brain Aneurysm Treatment

On the morning of March 14, 2016, I was doing my normal workout routine at the gym. After I had finished, I stood up with the worst headache of my life and then I collapsed. I was diagnosed with four aneurysms in my brain. Two of them had ruptured. I was transported to OhioHealth’s Riverside Methodist Hospital, where I was treated by Drs. Peter J. Pema of Riverside Radiology & Interventional Associates (RRIA) and James Uselman, MD of the OhioHealth Neuroscience Center. I had two brain surgeries. After I regained consciousness, I was amazed by the extraordinary care I received from the physicians, nurses, and the entire staff. They treat you like you’re a member of their family. It was actually bittersweet to leave! Everyone was just extraordinary. They genuinely care about what they’re doing.

Today I am still living with two unruptured cerebral aneurysms. They're too small to treat, so I will remain under Dr. Pema’s care so they can continue to be monitored. I go back every couple years for an angiogram.

Thanks to the extraordinary team of specialists at RRIA, I got to marry the love of my life on August 17, 2016 in a skydive wedding in Vegas. Drs. Pema and Uselman thought I was crazy, but they determined me well enough and gave me the "all clear" to skydive and that I did.
